Sea Lions in the Mist

I prefer this image in Black and White. It shows off the mist in the background a little bit better. The rocks here are so rugged and the sea lions are always so animated when you watch them, thats if they are not sleeping. I like them except when they are eating the salmon off your fishing line.

Orca Spyhop

To see countless whales on this coast, its nice to see an orca playing in the kelp. This particular one spy-hopped for us on the West coast of Haida Gwaii just inside Marble Island. I have this posted on my Flickr site and it is probably the Top Photo. I plan to post more whale pictures and other wildlife I see here on the North Coast and Victoria where I seem to be on the water the most.

My Background - Stef Olcen

This is me holding a tyee salmon. When I have the chance, I will try fish for the elusive tyee. I spent a good decade sportfishing in Northern BC and now I work for the Coast Guard on a patrol boat in Haida Gwaii. Wherever I go in a boat, there is a good chance I am carrying my camera. I try to capture the flora and fauna, or any good scenery for that matter. I will try to post some of my favorite pictures, and give a background to the picture or I will try post new ones and capture the fresh experience while its fresh in my mind.
